Victor’s 1959 Cafe, 8/10/20

This week’s Diversity-owned Small Business Spotlight is: Victor’s 1959 Cafe! Owner Niki Stavrou has been at it’s helm for 21+ years after falling in love with Cuban culture. This little piece of Cuba in South Minneapolis has also been featured on Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives. They’re such a lil’ quaint space that due to covid they’re doing their part to keep customers and staff safe. You can immediately enjoy your eats handed over safely from their take-out window (so no need to go inside) on their patio, picnic style. While they work on delivery service, currently their tasty menu is available for take-out and you can order it ahead and choose your pick-up time. This was convenient for me as I was out running errands, swung by, and grabbed my latest Cuban delight. Order online: You immediately smell all the Cuban spices and goodness as soon as you exit your vehicle there. Victor’s 1959 Cafe serves delicious breakfast, lunch & dinner. I’ve had all three meals and they are all delicious. After returning from a trip to Cuba a few years ago, I realized they are also 100% authentic. If you haven’t been to Cuba, Victor’s 1959 provides a window into Cuban flavors and culture. Vegetarians; there are plenty of options. The Cubano; tastes just like one you’d get at any restaurant or street vendor in Cuba. Mango pancakes; yum- and pair with a cafe con leche for perfection. I love their yuca fritas with hot sauce and have been known to get an extra order to enjoy later. So until they get delivery, plot out your next route to their area and pick up some scrumptious Cuban cuisine!
