Tacos el Kevin, 11/30/20

This week’s Diversity-owned Small Business Spotlight is Tacos el “Kevin” . Owners Saturmina and Esteban have carved out a quaint space inside the Portland Market convenience store. This taco spot is named after Kevin, their 8-year old son. With a limited menu, tacos are the star here, I enjoy the Tacos Dorados because sometimes I need crunchy tacos. You choose the protein on your tacos, tortas, and quesadillas, and there is a vegetarian option of a rice taco. Each come with a tomatillo and a red salsa. I’ve had their whole fried fish, which reminds me of having one on a tropical vacation years ago and is as tasty as it sounds. Pre-covid, as a take-out business they already did a nice job of packaging food to go. Before you pay, check out the cooler that has fresh sundaes & fruit cups. I got the watermelon & papaya cup for the first time. When asked if I wanted “everything” on my fruit, I said yes without knowing what I just accepted. It turns out, “everything” is tajin (a spice I use often at home), a chamoy sauce, and a fun tamarindo candy. It was great. So get the fruit cup with everything on it! Open 9am-9pm Inside the Portland Market: 3751 Portland Ave. S., Minneapolis
